From the December 2 edition of Scene Weekly.
Fans of Twilight in Louisiana and across the world have paid close attention to Baton Rouge since The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn began filming a few weeks ago. While Baton Rouge is no stranger to big productions, few places in the world are accustomed to the ever-bright spotlight that accompanies the popular vampire romance films.
Scene’s exclusive interview with Winston Achee, the man in charge of security for Twilight’s studio of choice in Baton Rouge, went viral in less than a few hours. Picked up by Perez Hilton, MTV.com and others, including a host of fan sites dedicated to chronicling every mention of Twilight, the instant interest in our piece illustrates the appetite for information about the film. But while the filming of Breaking Dawn in Brazil was disturbed by paparazzi and fans alike, Baton Rouge has openly, and respectfully, received the project.
As Twilight has fallen on Baton Rouge, some other news outlets have been less considerate than Scene of the actors’ and filmmakers’ space, reporting on specific filming on location and even revealing their places of residence. Yet, there have been no negative incidents to report. Actors and filmmakers have been largely allowed to simply work. And the respect has been reciprocal.
While attending the LSU vs. Ole Miss game with Scene Magazine and other film industry professionals, Twilight producer Wyck Godfrey was approached by an exhuberant fifteen year old fan. In true Tiger spirit, he graciously posed for the photo below before entering the Chancellors Party to tailgate as a guest of the university.
Work continues in Louisiana on The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn. With almost an entire year until part one of the two-part finale debuts in theaters, there is quite a long wait ahead of them. But luckily, this weekend brings an early Christmas gift. On December 4, The Twilight Saga’s blockbuster third installment, Eclipse, will be released on DVD and Blu-Ray everywhere.
