Universal Pictures International has picked up the distribution rights for the movie “Immortals”, according to THR. Countries included in the deal are Australia, Hong Kong, Japan, New Zealand, Singapore, Switzerland, Spain and the U.K. The movie’s domestic distribution will be by Rogue, a Relativity Media company.
“Immortals” will be another in a very long list of 3D movies following on the heels of “Avatar”. It’s the mythological story of Theseus who fights the Greek Gods and Titans to save the world. Casting goes as follows: Freida Pinto as Phaedra, Stephen Dorff as Stavros, Kellan Lutz as Poseidon, Luke Evans as Zeus, John Hurt as Old Zeus and Isabel Lucas as Athena.
Director for “Immortals” is Tarsem Singh. Producers are Ryan Kavanaugh (Relativity Media), Gianni Nunnari (Hollywood Gang Productions) and Mark Canton (Atmosphere Entertainment). The movie is currently being filmed in Montreal, Canada and will be released sometime in 2011.
