'TRON: Legacy' Is The Most Downloaded Movie Online
In this week's review of what's happening in the piracy underground, two anticipated albums leak ahead of their official release, Tron: Legacy is the most pirated film, and a Texas man has been arrested for running a website that linked to streaming television feeds.
Last week, two albums scheduled for release later this month became hot items on torrent websites. Pirates snatched up Britney Spears' "Femme Fetale" ahead of its official March 29th debut and Chris Brown's "F.A.M.E" ahead of its official March 22nd bow. Critics are already pouncing with their reviews. New York calls the Spears' album "appealingly odd" despite a "mediocre" lead single that has landed the singer in a courtroom over allegations of piracy herself.
Last month, country duo The Bellamy Brothers sued Spears for taking lyrics for "Hold it Against Me." Spears struck back with a defamation claim.
Turning to the film world, TRON: Legacy has been one of the biggest films in torrent circles since it came out in theaters in December. The film, distributed by Disney, doesn't come out on DVD and Blu-Ray until April 5th, but it tops the most pirated film chart for the second consecutive week. According to TorrentFreak, which tracks the data, the latest installment of The Chronicles of Narnia also debuts as a big-ticket item on torrent websites, and Oscar-winning The King's Speech continues to do good non-business.
Here are the top 10 most pirated films:
TRON: Legacy
The Next Three Days
The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader
The Fighter
Season of the Witch
Drive Angry
The King's Speech
127 Hours
How Do You Know
The Mechanic
Finally, in the television world, readers may remember that in advance of this year's Super Bowl, a number of websites that linked to legally-questionable live television feeds were shut down by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency. Some of the sites have migrated to other platforms, but one individual hasn't been so lucky.
Brian McCarthy, the Texas man who ran ChannelSurfing.net before it was shut down in the crack-down, has been arrested and charged with criminal copyright infringement. According to prosecutors, McCarthy made $90,000 in advertisement revenue running the site. Authorities tracked him down via domain registration information. He faces up to five years in prison.

'Tron-The Legacy' & 'Scott Pilgrim Against The World' In 'R7's Best Movies Of The Year'
# 6 (movie with Michael Sheen) Continuation of cult 1982 film, Tron - The Legacy debuted at the end of the year and has joined our list of the best. Not only the visual impression, but also how Disney managed to make a movie with so much action, those types of leave anyone in a movie theater breathless. Despite the mixed reviews that the film had, no doubt: Tron can not have the same cultural impact as its predecessor, but it showed how to respect and make a worthy tribute to a classic
# 7 (Movie Anna Kendrick) - Beyond Social Networking, another film that spoke well to the youth of 2010 was Scott Pilgrim Against the World . For a generation on all the time on the Internet, with its slang and inside jokes, which receives a daily overdose of information, Scott Pilgrim is its main representative. Even being too specific, well that kind of nerd who likes video games old, the production found in Michael Cera's face young today-only lament the near-zero release of the film, with very few theaters in the country.

Moviefone 50 Best Movies of 2010: Eclipse and Tron Legacy on list
We know what you're thinking: 'Twilight'? Really?! But before you judge, hear us out: While it didn't exactly reinvent 'Citizen Kane,' at the end of the day, 'Eclipse' was a pretty fun time at the movies. Sure, it had its fair share of 'Twilight' trappings, and we still think Bella would have been better off with Jacob, not Edward. But as an action-thriller, 'Eclipse' totally worked. (The scene in which Bryce Dallas Howard gets her head smashed? Awesome.) If ever there was a time to embrace 'The Twilight Saga,' it would be 2010. -- Andy Scott
46. 'TRON: Legacy'
Disney took a major gamble by throwing an estimated $170 million at a sequel to a cult 1982 movie that few people have ever seen. Whether it earns back that massive investment remains to be seen, but the overall result is a genuinely exciting, eye-popping, 3-D action flick about a human (Garrett Hedlund) who gets sucked into a sentient computer program while searching for his long-lost father (Jeff Bridges). You can bet that if it does turn a profit, the next installment in the 'TRON' franchise won't take 28 years to come to the screen. -- John Sellers

Five Things You Need to Know About Tron: Legacy
So whether you're a closet Tron nerd or just dying to see up-and-comer Garrett Hedlund and hottie Olivia Wilde run amok on the digital world known as The Grid with Oscar winner Bridges, here are five things you've got to know about Tron: Legacy.
1. Jeff Bridges, Star of 1982's Tron, Enjoyed a Digital Face-Lift: While Bridges not only reprises his role as the now-middle-aged software programmer Kevin Flynn, he also plays a version of Flynn's digital doppelgänger, Clu. Only thing is, this version of the once-helpful program has grown resentful over the years and is now bent on breaking out of The Grid to take over the real world. To play Clu 2, Bridges was outfitted with cutting-edge gear that allowed the filmmaker to capture his performance and then de-aged him back to his 1980s' Against All Odds period in post production.
2. Nearly 30 Later, Flynn Has Become...The Dude? Years upon years trapped in The Grid has changed Kevin Flynn so much that he's turned into a version of Bridges' laid-back character from The Big Lebowski. (He makes exclamations like "It's bio-digital jazz, man!" and meditates in his secret hideaway. Even in computer land, The Dude abides.)
3. Light-Cycles Are Real! Kinda: Architect-turned-director Joseph Kosinski spent years on the futuristic visual designs of his updated Tron, a completely virtual world in which humanoid programs whirl around on sleek, curvy motorbike-like light-cycles. Thanks to custom bike shop Parker Bros. Choppers in Melbourne, Fla., you can ride around the real world in a fully functional, street-legal light-cycle. It'll only cost you $55,000—a small price to pay for the instantaneous boost in geek cred, natch.
4. Olivia Wilde Wants Little Girls to Dress Up Like Her for Halloween: Expect to see those battery-powered light-up latex suits on trick-or-treaters everywhere next October, if the sexy starlet has any say in the matter—but not just because they look cool. Wilde, who collaborated in designing the look of her naive but lethal character Quorra, hopes that young girls will take inspiration from Quorra's strength and compassion. "When I was little, I dressed up as Wonder Woman, and Wonder Woman represented social justice and honesty," explained Wilde. "And now I'm not sure who [little girls] dress up as." Hopefully, they'll have this option next year.
5. Tron: Legacy Contains Subtle Messages From the Buddha: Bridges brought onboard his own personal Buddhist advisor, Zen master Bernie Glassman, to help shape his character's demeanor. "Flynn has discovered that the more he goes against Clu, the more powerful [Clu] becomes, so he's kind of retreated and gotten into a place of acceptance for the way it is—to such a degree that it's almost paralyzed him," said Bridges, a practitioner of socially engaged Buddhism. Bridges himself recently traveled to Washington, D.C., to advocate for the No Child Hungry campaign and names his increased post-Oscar celebrity as an asset in helping get the word out for his charitable causes.

TRON'S Legacy: A new generation of filmmakers revives Disney's groundbreaking CGI thriller
From Clash of the Titans to The Karate Kid, A Nightmare on Elm Street to Predators and The A-Team to a second Wall Street, this was the year that the ’80s took back the multiplex in a big way. So it’s fitting that 2010 ends with the belated return of another piece of the Me Generation’s cinematic history.
Sweeping onto IMAX and regular screens nationwide on Dec, 17, TRON: Legacy is the long-in-the-works sequel to the cult favorite TRON, which first appeared on the pop-culture landscape in the distant past of 1982. Dreamed up by animator Steven Lisberger and bankrolled by Disney, the film sought to capitalize on the excitement surrounding the impressive advancements made in computer technology (most notably the recent introduction of personal computers) as well as the young medium of videogames by chronicling the adventures of Kevin Flynn (played by Jeff Bridges), a flesh-and-blood computer whiz who is transported into a brave new digital world.
The idea of a man lost in a machine and the search for him is such a compelling way into this story,” explains Kosinski. “It’s also a great way to introduce a new character and allow the audience to experience the world through his eyes. You need something emotional to hold onto when you’re creating a place that looks and sounds like this and a father-and-son relationship is a very relatable narrative.”
“If you’ve never seen the original, you will absolutely be able to follow this film,” Kitsis promises. “But if you have seen TRON, there are definitely things in Legacy that will make you happy.” (The writer also confirms reports that Pixar was brought aboard to offer creative input prior to some planned additional photography this past summer. “To us, Pixar is The Beatles of storytelling and if The Beatles are willing to listen to your CD and give their thoughts, you listen and thank them,” Kitsis says.)
