NextMovie: Win "Red Riding Hood" Blu Rays

Photobucket

That big bad wolf sure knows how to get around. First he huffed and puffed and blew down the house on those three little pigs and then he went and terrorized Little Red Riding Hood and her poor grandmother. Effective, sure, but kind of inefficient. So we thought we'd help him save some time by combining his efforts.

And when you see the three little "Red Riding Hood" Blu-rays we're giving away, it might blow your mind down.

Our latest giveaway features not just one, but three copies of Catherine Hardwicke's edgy reworking of the "Red Riding Hood" legend. You know, the one that stars the not-so-little Amanda Seyfried as the girl in the red hood and Max Irons and Shiloh Fernandez as two hunky love interests who may or may not be big and bad in their spare time? Yeah, it's pretty awesome stuff.

So if you want to say, "my, what big prizes you have," then why not sign up and win a copy for yourself, absolutely free? And if you're afraid of wolves in sheep's clothing, don't worry.

Because this is one fairy tale that has a very, very happy ending.

To enter, just shoot us an email at NextMovie@MTV.com and include your name, address, birthdate and be sure to copy and paste the following statement:

“By sending this email, I accept and agree to: (1) the Official Rules of the "'Red Riding Hood' Blu-ray Sweepstakes" and (2) MTV Networks’, a division of Viacom International Inc., Nextmovie.com Terms of Use and Privacy Policy.”

The contest runs from now until 3 p.m. ET on Wednesday, June 15. Entrants must be at least 13 years old and reside in the U.S. Click here for complete rules and further details.

As an added bonus, all entrants will be signed up for the fun and useful UpNext newsletter. As an UpNext subscriber, you'll receive daily updates on the hottest releases, events and merch from the world of movies.

The Twilight Saga Soundtracks Available on Blu-ray, DVD, and iTunes

PhotobucketSummit Entertainment's Music Videos and Performances from The Twilight Saga Soundtracks Volume 1 on Blu-ray and DVD is currently available nationwide at all retailers and for digital download exclusively on iTunes. The groundbreaking "visual soundtrack" is an unprecedented collection of music videos and live performances from bands featured on the chart topping soundtracks from each of the three Twilight Saga films, of which the latest, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, is currently nominated for a 2011 Grammy Award for Best Soundtrack.

Music Videos and Performances from The Twilight Saga Soundtracks Volume 1 is the first-of-its-kind music video soundtrack highlighting 22 songs by famous artists, including: Muse "Neutron Star Collision (Love Is Forever)," Paramore "Decode," Death Cab for Cutie "Meet Me On The Equinox," and Cee-Lo "What Part Of Forever." Both the Blu-ray and DVD feature a "Continuous Play Option," just like a CD, so viewers can play the content as a continuous loop.

Said Steve Nickerson, President of Summit Home Entertainment, "These days, people want to both hear and see their music, whether on computers, cell phones or iPods. The Twilight Saga Soundtracks lets audiences fall in love again with the films' songs, along with the added value of new videos from their favorite artists. This is a cool, must-have item for all Twilight Saga fans."

"This release represents a new generation of soundtracks which feature both audio and video - not just audio alone," says Steve Devick, CEO of Concert Hot Spot which produced the disc. "It provides a new dimension to The Twilight Saga's music and theatrical films with authentic videos and live performances with the actual artists -- some of which have never been seen before."

The Music Videos and Performances from The Twilight Saga Soundtracks Volume 1 executive producers are Steve Devick, Paul Katz of Eye2Ear Music who consults Summit Entertainment on all music matters, and Alexandra Patsavas (Gossip Girl, Grey's Anatomy), owner of Chop Shop Music Supervision.

"The Twilight Saga family of worldwide music artists each contributed their own unique visual interpretation of their recorded tracks in a stunning manner. This is a truly wonderful collection that complements the three music soundtracks and their respective films," said Katz.

Adds Patsavas, "The Twilight Saga Soundtracks is a gorgeous new collection from our music artists who have interpreted their songs and visuals as an extension of The Twilight Saga experience."

'The Twilight Saga: Eclipse' DVD/Blu-Ray Sales Surpass Seven Million Units

PhotobucketAs you know, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse on DVD and Blu-Ray hit shelves on December 4th. Right away - in other words, on opening weekend - the Eclipse DVD/Blu-Ray sold over three million units.
These numbers were comparable to opening sales figures for both the Twilight and New Moon DVDs (three and four million respectively), but Home Media Magazine quoted a Summit Entertainment rep to state: "With the first two titles, we had massive March opening events involving thousands of retail stores . . . We were going for a big bang, right out of the gate. This time we are releasing the film during the holiday season, a much more crowded time and one with vastly different consumer shopping patterns. So our whole plan is to look at what we're doing over a four-week period of time, and not a single night."
Well, according to The Numbers, after four weeks (up to the week of December 26th), over seven million EclipseDVDs and Blu-Rays have been sold (7,111,305 to be exact).
In 2010, 7,829,281 The Twilight Saga: New Moon DVDs and Blu-Rays were sold, after having been released on March 20th. So, Eclipse's DVD sales were almost as strong as New Moon's in just four weeks time.
Eclipse was the fifth most-sold DVD in 2010, and New Moon was the third. In 2009, Twilight sold over 10 million copies. Twilight also had a March DVD/Blu-Ray release date. So, it should be interesting to see how many total units are sold for Eclipse. At this rate, Eclipse will likely trump both of the prior films in home entertainment sales.

Moviefone: 'The Twilight Saga: Eclipse' Blu-ray Review

There was a time when I actually defended the 'Twilight' films, and thanks in no small part to the films themselves, that devolved into simply defending people's right to like the 'Twilight' films. Now, I'm not quite sure that I can even do that, at least judging by the lack of, well, justification on the new Blu-ray for 'The Twilight Saga: Eclipse.'

In terms of the presentation of the film, the picture looks terrific, offering dynamic, colorful and clear imagery that highlights director David Slade's superlative technical expertise behind the camera. Meanwhile, the sound design is muscular but equally lucid, providing deep rumbles of furrowed-brow intensity via the low-end notes while dialogue and sound effects are perfectly distinguishable; in short, fans will have no trouble seeing every gesture that actors Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner make, nor deciphering every last line or utterance that they deliver.

In terms of the bonus content, the centerpiece of the disc is the two commentary tracks that accompany the movie, one by stars Pattinson and Stewart, and one by 'Twilight' author Stephenie Meyer and producer Wyck Godfrey. Although an early exchange between Pattinson and Stewart suggests that the duo will reveal details about the forthcoming two-part finale of the series, 'Breaking Dawn,' their comments are ultimately as factual as the speculations of Twihards in a fan site chat room, and the majority of the rest of the track is devoted to the pair's giggling, largely-unexplained in-jokes or generally frivolous insights into the making of the film.
