Dakota Fanning Are Going To Attend The New York University

Photobucket

Dakota Fanning, a former child star who appears in the "Twilight" films, is set to attend New York University this fall, OnTheRedCarpet.com has confirmed.

The 17-year-old graduated from high school in June. She enrolled at NYU's Gallatin School of Individualized Study earlier this year and plans to begin her college courses when the fall semester begins in September, a college spokesperson told OnTheRedCarpet.com on Thursday, August 25.

Fanning's representative had no immediate comment. Nylon magazine reported in April 2010 that the actress was spotted touring Gallatin. Earlier this week, an NYU-branded email address containing her full name - Hannah Dakota Fanning - was seen in the college's database, according to NYU Local, NYU's news blog.

NYU's class of 2015 has been permitted to move into student dorms as early as Monday. It is unclear if Fanning plans to live on campus. Fall 2011 classes at the university are scheduled to begin on September.

Celebrities who have attended NYU in the past include Ashley and Mary-Kate Olsen, both of whom left before they completed their studies, comedian Aziz Ansari, who graduated in 2004 and actor James Franco, who received his MFA in filmmaking from the university's Tisch School of the Arts earlier this year.

Twins Cody and Dylan Sprouse, who played Zack and Cody on the Disney Channel series "The Suite Life on Deck," which ended in May, are also preparing to begin studying at NYU. They toured the campus in June.

Throughout her high school days at Campbell Hall, an Episcopal day school in North Hollywood, California, Fanning was a cheerleader and was voted homecoming queen.

The Georgia native rose to fame as a child actress when she appeared on the medical drama series "ER" and as a 5-year-old version of Ally McBeal on the law show by the same name.

She later appeared on programs such as "The Practice" and "Malcolm in the Middle" and appeared alongside Sean Penn in the 2001 movie "I Am Sam."

In 2002, she starred in the romantic comedy "Sweet Home Alabama," which featured Reese Witherspoon in the main role, and played Allie Keys in the mini-series "Taken" in 2002. Fanning starred in the 2005 reboot of "War of the Worlds" with Tom Cruise and in the 2006 film "Charlotte's Web." In 2009, Fanning starred in the movie "Push" and played the vampire Jane in "The Twilight Saga: New Moon," the second film in the hit series starring Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson.

In 2010, Fanning co-starred with Stewart in the music biopic "The Runaways" and reprised her role in the third "Twilight" movie, "Eclipse." Fanning plays the same part in the fourth and final installment, the two-part "Breaking Dawn." Part 1 is set for release on November 18 (spoiler alert).

Fanning recently filmed the independent film "Now Is Good" and has several more movies in the works - "Effie" with Emma Thompson, "Mississippi Wild" with Mickey Rourke and "Very Good Girls" with Dustin Hoffman." All films are due out in 2012.

Another film Fanning recently filmed that is due to be released that year is the drama "The Motel Life." It stars Stephen Dorff, who appeared with the actress' younger sister Elle in the 2010 movie "Somewhere." The younger Fanning sister recently won rave reviews for her performance in the sci-fi film "Super 8."

Info on Dakota Fanning and Tom Sturridge’s new project, ‘Effie'

Photobucket

EXCLUSIVE: Dakota Fanning will star in the title role of Effie, the Emma Thompson-scripted period biopic about the unfortunate marriage between Euphemia Gray and the famed critic John Ruskin in 1850s London. Richard Laxton (An Englishman in New York) is directing. Though the teenager was gorgeous, Effie's husband never consummated the marriage over five years because Ruskin was for some reason disgusted by her body. After suffering through a loveless marriage and browbeating by her in-laws, Effie fell in love with Ruskin's protégé, painter John Everett Millais.

Greg Wise will play Ruskin, and Tom Sturridge will play Millais. Thompson plays Lady Eastlake, who takes Effie under her wing when it was clear the union was destroying the young woman. Julie Walters and Derek Jacobi play Ruskin’s parents, and Edward Fox is in talks to play Lady Eastlake's husband, Sir Charles Eastlake. He was the main patron of the Royal Academy, which held sway over what constituted fine art. He was already fed up with Ruskin and his radical ideas before that love triangle rocked the art community. Production will begin Oct. 17 in Scotland, London and Venice. The film’s being produced by Don Rosenfeld with Andreas Roald. They raised the $10 million budget through private equity.

The foreplay on this movie lasted as long the marriage between Effie and Ruskin, but at least here, Effie has the satisfaction of a start date. Along the way, Carey Mulligan and Saoirse Ronan had previously been reported as circling the Effie role, but the movie's momentum was interrupted when Gregory Murphy took the producers to court claiming copyright infringement regarding his play The Countess, which also probed the Ruskin marriage. All this works out well for Fanning, who is now 17.

“It’s Emma Thompson’s first original script after doing several fine adaptations, and it gets to the heart of Victorian England,” said Rosenfeld, the former head of Merchant Ivory Productions. Rosenfeld and Roald are also producers of the Terrence Malick-directed The Voyage of Time, for which Thompson has signed on to be one of the narrators. “The script for Effie was always brilliant, but sometimes these things take time.” Rosenfeld said. The timing allowed them to raise the funding without having to pre-sell foreign or domestic territories. That won’t come until the film's premiere, which the filmmakers hope will come at the 2012 Venice Film Festival.

Elle Fanning: 'Dakota and I wanted to be tennis players'

PhotobucketElle Fanning has revealed that she and her big sister Dakota both originally wanted to be tennis players!

The Super 8 star said that her parents never cease to be amused by their children's acting careers because no one else in the family can act. Their mum is a tennis star and dad is a baseball player.

She told movies.ie, "My parents have no acting genes at all, no one in my family really, so it was funny when we got into acting because we were supposed to be like Venus and Serena [Williams], tennis players, so it was sort of mad that it worked out that way.

"My mum and sister moved out to LA and decided it was something Dakota really wanted to do, so me and my dad moved out and I saw what my big sister was doing and I wanted to try it and it's fun we have that connection, that's something that brings us together in a way, that we both do movies and that's fun for us."

The 13-year-old started acting at the tender age of two and said that she hopes to carry on for years to come.

"It's something I've been doing my whole life and can hopefully continue to do it, it's really fun. I do lots of ballet and sing, there's other things I do as well, movies are just another after school activity right?!"

Dakota Fanning's “Now Is Good” Rainy Workday (August 4)

Photobucket

Working away on her new project, Dakota Fanning was spotted on the set of “Now is Good” earlier today (August 4).
The “I Am Sam” actress was joined on the London, England set by her costar Jeremy Irvine as she filmed scenes in the rainy weather.
“Now is Good” is about a young woman dying of leukemia who compiles a list of things she’d like to do before her death.
And it seems Ms. Fanning is super-committed to the film- she even skipped the “Breaking Dawn” promotions at Comic-Con last month in favor of staying at work.

MSN: TEEN STARS WITH STAYING POWER, Dakota Fanning, Taylor Lautner

10. Taylor Lautner
Age: 19
The "Twilight" series will soon come to a close, which begs the question: What will happen to its stars? Will they fade away into former teen heartthrob oblivion? The jury is still out for Taylor Lautner, who will have his first
crack at establishing himself as a lead actor in the September thriller "Abduction."

2. Dakota Fanning
Age: 17
It's had to believe that Dakota
is only 17 when she's got the poise and grace of actresses twice her age. We've pretty much watched Dakota grow up on camera, and we don't think she's ever given a performance that's been
less than riveting. Through it all, she's maintained a normal life, even attending a regular high school. It's exactly that down-to-earth attitude that makes us certain that Dakota will be around until her kids are in high school.
