Elle Fanning: 'Dakota and I wanted to be tennis players'

PhotobucketElle Fanning has revealed that she and her big sister Dakota both originally wanted to be tennis players!

The Super 8 star said that her parents never cease to be amused by their children's acting careers because no one else in the family can act. Their mum is a tennis star and dad is a baseball player.

She told movies.ie, "My parents have no acting genes at all, no one in my family really, so it was funny when we got into acting because we were supposed to be like Venus and Serena [Williams], tennis players, so it was sort of mad that it worked out that way.

"My mum and sister moved out to LA and decided it was something Dakota really wanted to do, so me and my dad moved out and I saw what my big sister was doing and I wanted to try it and it's fun we have that connection, that's something that brings us together in a way, that we both do movies and that's fun for us."

The 13-year-old started acting at the tender age of two and said that she hopes to carry on for years to come.

"It's something I've been doing my whole life and can hopefully continue to do it, it's really fun. I do lots of ballet and sing, there's other things I do as well, movies are just another after school activity right?!"

Elle Looks Up To Big Sister Dakota

Elle Fanning Dakota Fanning's little sister admitted in a recent interview how much she really looks up to big sister Dakota.

"I’ve grown up with her starting out and then me starting out. It’s really cool. I feel like she hasn’t really given me any, like, advice, but I think that just her doing the choices that she’s picked, just watching her do that is the advice.”

Awhh that's so sweet that Elle looks up to Dakota like that and that Dakota sets a good example not only for her own sister but for fans all around the world. She manages to keep her head above water and deal with all the attention with maturity and grace.

Dakota and Elle Fanning apply for passports

The adorable young ladies walked along side-by-side as they headed to the counter to apply for passports before continuing along with the day's agenda.

The Fanning family outing comes amidst recent rumors that Dakota and Elle may be teaming up for a big screen picture about the sixties family girl-group The Shaggs.

The project is being pitched by "Motherhood" director Katherine Dieckmann, with plans to tell the story of no-hit wonder New Hampshire sisters Dot, Betty, Helen, and Rachel Wiggin.

Just Jared: Dakota & Elle Fanning: W Mag’s Best Performers

Photobucket

Dakota Fanning leathers it up while little sister Elle bends over backwards for W Magazine’s Best Performers of 2011 feature.

The talented sisters dished to the mag about the importance of attending regular school and falling in love with old movies. Check it:

Elle on her fascination with Marilyn Monroe: “The first movie I really fell in love with was The Seven Year Itch. I love Marilyn Monroe. I went as her in the white dress for Halloween. I did the mole and the little cat eye.”

Dakota on going to high school: “It was important for me to go to a normal high school. I have a locker, which was a big deal. My mom had to buy me a lock and teach me how to use it. It’s the little things: Where do you go at lunch? How do you open the locker? I wanted a yearbook! Now I have a lot of signatures in my yearbook—‘Have a good summer’ and all that.”

Elle Fanning (Dakota's Sis) Talks ‘Twilight’ in Her New Film ‘Somewhere’

Photobucket
Even movie stars aren’t immune to the power of “Twilight.” Elle Fanning, 12-year-old sister of Dakota Fanning, is a huge fan.
In the new Sophia Coppola film “Somewhere,” Elle has a scene where her character’s trying to explain the “Twilight” story to her father (played by Stephen Dorff). I ask Elle if that was something she improvised.
“No. Sophia wrote that back when it was just the books that were so popular,” Elle says.
Her sister starred in the second and third “Twilight” movies, but Elle never visited the set. She did get to attend the grand opening of “The Twilight Saga: New Moon” and was excited to see all the stars.
That leads to the obvious question: Team Jacob or Team Edward?
“I’m Team Voltori,” Elle says with a smile.
For those of you not up on “Twilight,” the Voltori are a group of pretty nasty vampires. Dakota plays Jane, a member of that group.
